On February 22, 2017 representatives of the Union of Professional Football Players in Bosnia and Herzegovina participate the meeting of the Unions of Football Players from the region in Zagreb. The organizer of the meeting was HUNS (the Union of Football Players in Croatia) and there were also representatives of the Unions from Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Macedonia.
In addition to the regular Agenda, the focus was on strengthening cooperation between these Unions. The reason for this is the large number of players in these countries playing in the clubs of this area, and maximum protection of their rights.
Most discussion and agreement was about FIFPro tournament for players without a valid contract, that will be organized by HUNS in Zagreb (June 30-July 3). There will be six teams playing that tournament including the players with no engagement with the club at the end of football season 2016/2017. It will be great opportunity for the players to showcase their work in the field, given the fact there will be also representatives of football clubs from the region, scouts and media invited to the tournament. Therefore, it is very possible that some of the players find new engagement after the tournament.
If our Union would not be active participant at the tournament this years, because we are not full members of FIFPro, our representatives will be invited as guests and observers, for insight into the organization as well as making contact with there present players and other guests.
This was the first but, certainly, not the last meeting of the Unions from this region, because only together we can make a big change in favor of protecting the rights of the players. There is a great mood for cooperation between these Unions , so we will make positive stories and projects in the near future together.
